Your Entire Financial Life in One App

Overview

Finera was a personal finance app meant to replace several separate financial tools with one. Users would connect hundreds of European banks, including nearly all Slovak banks, pull every account into a single profile, and read their finances without exporting anything to a spreadsheet.

We designed and built a mobile-first MVP around data aggregation, analytics and visualization. Through Salt Edge and Open Banking (PSD2) the app connected multiple bank accounts, listed transactions across institutions, and presented them as charts, reports and custom calculations.

Compliance shaped the design from the start, including KYC flows and secure handling of financial data. Beyond banking, the architecture allowed integrations with accounting systems such as Doklado and Kros.

The project never reached public launch because the funding ran out. The MVP still stands as evidence of what we can build in a security-sensitive domain with heavy data processing and outside integrations.

What we did

The challenge

At this scale, a personal finance app is mostly a data and integration problem. We had to:

• Integrate hundreds of banks via Open Banking (PSD2) using Salt Edge
• Normalize different transaction formats into a single data model
• Merge multiple banks and accounts under one user profile
• Build fast, readable analytics and visualizations on top of large datasets
• Design an interface that makes dense financial data readable
• Handle security, privacy and compliance from the start

The system also had to leave room for investments and deeper analysis later.

The solution

We built a React Native app with a custom component system and NativeWind for consistent UI work. It let users:

• Securely connect accounts from hundreds of EU banks
• Combine multiple bank accounts across institutions into one profile
• Browse and filter transactions across all accounts
• View detailed financial reports, charts, and spending analytics
• Run custom calculations and build personal budgets
• Connect to external financial systems

The architecture was built to grow toward investment tracking and financial planning tools.

Outcome

The product was never released, but the project produced a production-grade MVP and a technical foundation that held up under review.

It shows our ability to:

• Build complex fintech mobile applications
• Integrate with Open Banking and regulated financial APIs
• Design scalable data and analytics systems
• Create high-performance, data-heavy mobile UIs
• Take a large financial product idea from concept to working software
